These are examples of the kind of machines that pass through the shop..

Bosch Pumps p/n 0010915201
This is a lot of five pumps used in Mercedes SL autos in the late 60's to early 70's. They are disassembled, degreased and bead-blasted. After washing each gets brushes, commutator turned and clearances set. All new hardware is A4 alloy stainless. Seals are fuel proof Viton®. Each is tested for current draw, pressure, leaks and noise level.

As of January 2014 these pumps are distributed by: www.vintageeuroparts.com

Borg Warner ST10 (Super T-10) Four Speed Manual Trans.
Fun project. This trans was disassembled and cleaned with lots of hot, soapy water. No Solvents. Reassembled with all new wear surfaces including bearings, countershaft, thrust washers and bronze syncro-blockers... and of course new seals. This trans had a spun tail-shaft bushing, so I bored and sleeved before installing the new bushing. Very pretty tranny. Somewhere, at a vintage race car meet, this trans is making its way down the 1/4 mile in a supercharged 56 Chevy.

I also work on Muncie boxes from the 60's - 70's .

1950's Vintage Joe Hunt / Vertex Magneto.
This was truly a 'barn find". The rusted and questionable ignition was successfully repaired.
Not really a restoration per se. Thoroughly cleaned, but left the aesthetically pleasing patina.

Rochester 2GV Carburetor.
I generally follow the same procedure for carbs.
Disassemble and clean. Maybe bead blast, etch and rarely Alodine®. Replace everything.
Check for fit, set floats, pre-set idle mix and speed, choke pull-off and you know.

I also work on Holley 4150 / 4160, 4412. Older stuff too like Carter AFB and relatives, Quadra Jets ... um and even Thermo-Quads.

Edge-Banding Machine
Unfortunately, this nice machine fell while being moved. The front control box and sheet metal were smashed. I wired in a new set of compatible switches, pilot lamps and hammered the metal. Also re-machined some shaft bushings, aligned the drive chain and fixed some broken air logic. The air logic switch is no longer available, so some new springs / o-rings and yes.

Motorcycle stuff
The first pic is a CB 350 that wanted a top end ... and the case split to repair the kick-starter pawl.
The starter motor could have been replaced for $20 on Ebay, but yeah I had to find the open in the stator winding and repair it.

Lastly is not a Honda CB. They are some Porter-Cable sanders that needed windings repaired and bearings replaced.
Why bother you ask? I just can't stop myself from fixing things.

Upcoming in the next few weeks is a dozen 1960 vintage German electric fuel pumps for restore,
a really cool old-school Sioux valve grinding machine, and vintage Van Norman No. 777 boring bar!

If you have good equipment deserving of restoration, please contact me for service.
